One of my favourite artists at Latitude was Elvis Perkins. He really tore the house down with his melancholy singer-songwriting. Brilliant stuff. I've written a review of his album, Ash Wednesday over at Rockbeatstone. Below is a clip of my favourite song from the album performed live on David Letterman. When he last was in the UK he played the Borderline - I expect he'll be back playing bigger venues when he's next in London...

wow he really looks like his father! nice song - what i find weird with these young songwriters is that the Letterman and other TV shows and the big record companies they would never invite, these days, a 60s folksinger on their shows etc - while these young kids they sing and play and write just like a 60s folksinger and they have all the great exposure possible, I bet MTV love them, but you would never see Tom Paxton or Eric Andersen on MTV, innit?
MTV is probably too mainstream for people like Perkins....
But yes I see your point. You know as well as I do that the Rock n Roll industry is either youth or legend obsessed.
I think they haven't realised that Rock n Roll has been around for over 50 years now, so is no longer only "for the kids".
